Relationship Between Professor Jao and the Institute

Professor Jao Tsung-I and Shenzhen University have a long and deep academic bond. In September 1984, Professor Jao was invited to attend the inaugural meeting of the Chinese Department and the Sinology Institute of Shenzhen University. He held the posts of consultant and lecturer of the Sinology Institute. In June 1995, Professor Jao was conferred SZU Honorary Professorship. In October 2005, Professor Jao served as a consultant to the Institute of Comparative Literature and Comparative Culture of SZU. In May 2011, Professor Jao wrote “Shenzhen Grand View” in calligraphy for the painting that was initiated by SZU. In December 2016, Shenzhen University established the Jao Tsung-I Institute of Culture Studies and became a member of Jao Link. Professor Jao expressed his full support for the development of the institute and was conferred the title of Honorary Director.



Mission

The Jao Tsung-I Institute of Culture Studies(hereinafter referred to as the Institute)is a relatively independent research institute established by Shenzhen University. The institute was founded for the purposes of academic research, talent nurturing, cultural promotion, as well as the counseling services for the government. With both domestic and overseas advantageous resources, the Institute aims to build a world-class research center and an intellectual development platform that serves the national strategy and regional development through a problem oriented approach and interdisciplinary cooperation.

 



Research Areas

The Institute takes “Jao Studies and Culture of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”,“Cultural Heritage and Core Values, Chinese Culture Going out and Cross-cultural Comparison as its key research areas in order to enhance cultural self-confidence and cultural awareness.
